June 9th: This month we're featuring Windaddyflex !
"My name is Thomas and I live in Springville, Iowa.
My main "tools of the trade" are pencils(colored, charcoal, mechanical, etc.) and pens. I don't really do much else. I dabbled in painting in highschool but I never really liked it much, it's too sloppy to get the amount of detail I want. I like really fine point pens, .03mm and down.
I started out drawing stuff like landscapes, machines, and really just anything that interested me. I never took any art classes beyond what was required except for drawing and painting in highschool. I don't do landscapes as much, and I've shifted my focus to designs and figures. I love intricate designs, especially ones that make your eyes hurt if you look for too long. One of the reoccurring themes is what I call a conglomerate drawing. I basically put every single style I know into one drawing. This usually consists of a mix of designs, landscapes, guitars, stick figures, mechanical parts, and seascapes. There are other things I throw in depending on what I like to draw at the time.
I started drawing figures and people about 3 or 4 months ago, mostly because I've never really been good at it so I avoided it. I also just started working in color within the past couple years. I can't make things look realistic, so I love to clash contrasting colors together and make things as vivid as I can.
I also do a lot of writing. I've only really started that in the last couple years or so, after I got out of school. I realized that when I'm not being forced to write essays, I love writing. I love nonsense poems and outlandish stories. I am currently writing a book consisting of a bunch of short stories about the two main characters."
